Sochi Main Attractions


Unique park of flora and fauna with beautiful collection of trees and monuments of architecture.

Sochi is truly called the Garden City because more than 3 quarters of its territory are occupied by gardens and forests. Dendrarium (from greek: the collection of trees) is a wonderful park-line area with plants from all over the world. The park was created in 1892 by Sergei Khudekov, he was a famous Russian journalist and a writer.

The park is divided into two parts. The upper part is famous for its beautiful landscape (English garden), monuments and a collection of more than 1800 spices of plants. At the observation tower one can take pictures of amazing green panorama of the park and the city. In the lower part one can take a walk along shady alleys and a pond and enjoy your time.

Dendrarium is open for visiting every day. Working hours are changing twice per year – in spring time and in the end of autumn.

The highest point of Sochi located near the seacoast. Akhun is famous for its observation tower on top from which one can enjoy amazing panorama over the city and the Caucasus Mountains.

Akhun mountains is clearly can be noticed by its perfect shape withing the whole city panorama. There is an observation tower on top of the mountain resembling a medieval castle.

The observation tower was built between the years of 1935-1936 by Stalin's order. Located at the height of 663 meters above the sea level, one can admire wonderful view over the whole Black Sea coastline and snowy-capped Caucasus Mountains.

Stalin's Dacha

Summer residence of Josef Stalin is one of the most popular and historical places in Sochi.

Stalin's Dacha is located between Matsesta and Agura Valleys on the territory of the Sanatorium “Green Grove”. You can observe snowy-capped mountains of the Caucasus, smell the fresh air of pine-trees and cypresses growing around and feel the Soviet atmosphere hovering above this historical place. There is one interesting fact about this place – the colour of the dacha is the same as the trees totally camouflaging it and it cannot be seen neither from the sea, nor from the mountains. If you visit Stalin's Dacha, you will definitely make a time journey.

Krasnaya Polyana

Krasnaya Polyana is a popular winter ski resort in Russia with many activities all year round. It was the center of the Alpine cluster of venues of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Today Krasnaya Polayna offers many opportunities for wonderful and active holiday.

Krasnaya Polyana is the most famous ski resort in Russia. Nestled high in the Western Caucasus and surrounded by soaring mountains up to 2375 m. high, the scenery is truly magnificent. Spectacular scenery unfolds during the drive from Adler on a road that passes through a deep, narrow canyon. This part of the Western Caucasus is rightfully called Russian Switzerland.

During XXII Winter Olympic Games it was one of the venues of biathlon, ski-jumping, luge, alpine skiing, snowboarding. The resort is well developed and has many opportunities for wonderful holidays full of activities. There is a wide range of picturesque hiking trails, yoga on top of the mountains, horse riding, Spa-centers, aqua parks and many others.

Mild climate, lush vegetation, fresh clean mountain air, mineral springs and close location to the warm Black sea make this settlement one of the most favorite among the travelers.

There are three main resorts in the settlement of Krasnaya Polyana: Rosa Khutor, Gorky Gorod and Gazprom. Each of them offers many possibilities for memorable holidaymaking.

Olympic Park

Olympic Park is a key point in Sochi. It features the main sport facilities where spectacular opening and closing ceremonies were taken place during the Winter Olympic Games 2014. In 2018 the main Stadium of the park will host FIFA World Cup.

Olympic park is a unique place in Sochi. It is not only the park with great sport facilities but also a popular tourism center with wonderful developed infrastructure. The main Stadium of the park - “Fisht” - hosted spectacular opening and closing ceremonies of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in 2014. In 2018 the stadium will host matches of the FIFA World Cup.

The landmark of the park is a musical fountain with a beautiful evening show in the evening.

There are many events that take place in the park: sport competitions, political and social forums, musical and other festivals, concerts, exhibitions and many others. But the main event that gathers the guests not only from Russia but abroad – Formula-1. One can enjoy the spectacular show featuring super-fast cars, live music, while thousands of fans support their teams.

Agura Waterfalls

Agura Waterfalls – one of the most popular nature destinations in Sochi. You can enjoy the picturesque hiking trails of the Caucasus as you make your journey between two rocks up to the waterfalls.

The picturesque location of Agura Waterfalls draws a lot of travelers. Also known as Agursky, this waterfall is one of the most frequented places of sightseeing in Sochi. Agura Valley is a popular hiking trail in the area.

You may not see the Agura Waterfalls as soon as you reach the place as it remains hidden behind the green tunnel of cherry-laurel. The two huge rocks which are cut and corroded by the water are truly the wonders of nature, shrouded by branches of cherry-laurel, box-trees and oaks. Cascading from a height of 30 meters, the Agura Waterfalls in Sochi meanders through the ledges, dividing into separate rivulets. Creating small splashes and the smallest water spray, the Agura Waterfalls, Sochi falls into the oval lake. The majestic sight of calm water of the lake is set in contrast with the energetic and free-flowing waterfalls.

One can see the waterfalls only from the end of autumn till end of spring. During the summer time due to hot weather the waterfalls get dry but it is the perfect opportunity to explore and discover something new and interesting.
