A short drive through the picturesque tree-lined streets of Sochi brings you to the heart of this fashionable resort city. Your route will take you by the St. Archangel Michael church. Disembarking your coach, you'll begin a walking tour along the popular seaside promenade along the upper part of the seafront up to the very center of Sochi, the Theatre Square where you will see the magnificent building of the Winter Theatre.
Re-boarding your coach you'll next travel to the renowned Matsesta Spa. This is one of Sochi's oldest and most popular sulfur-springs spas. The word Matsesta literally means "fire water" and was named so by the ancient Adygs. The waters here are said to contain over 27 minerals, including sulfur, iodine and bromine, and are considered to be therapeutic in the treatment of several medical conditions.
The Botanical Gardens, also known as Dendrarium or Arboretum, were first laid in the 19-th century and are located about a mile south of Sochi's town center. During an hour walking tour of the Botanical Gardens, you will observe a spectacular selection of thousands of different species of trees and shrubs. The upper part of the garden features Mediterranean, Far Eastern, Himalayan, Australian, and American sections, and includes an area with plants indigenous to the Caucasus.
Following your visit to the Botanical Gardens, you will enjoy a sightseeing tour through town as you make your way back to the pier. Your guide will be sure to point out the sites of interest along the way.
