During the tour you will be fortunate to visit 3 museums of different epochs. The first one is Stalin’s Dacha - the museum of Soviet time. The second is a contemporary private ceramics museum which is not generally offered to foreign public. Finally you will visit the hand-made Tea chalet comprising all sorts of Russian handicrafts from different regions.
You will start with the walking tour along the upper part of the seafront up to the very center of Sochi. En route you will see the monument to the Second Russo-Turkish War, the oldest Soviet hotel “Primorskaya” and the main square of the city, Theatre square with its impressive building of the Winter Theatre.
Then you re-board the coach for the drive to Zelenaya Roscha – meaning Green Grove, the site of the former summer residence of Joseph Stalin. Situated within an old park, the dacha of the ‘all nations leader’ was built in the 1930’s.The interior has been preserved as it was in Stalin’s time. See the same valuable wood floor and fireplace where flames still glow. Feel Stalin’s presence on the ground floor where his wax figure is seated at his desk with smoking pipe in hand.
After the visit to Stalin’s Dacha you will be taken to the Private Ceramics Museum owned by the artist himself who will tour inside the museum and workshop as well. Ceramics Museum is a cultural heritage of the southern part of Russia. It is created by one of the greatest Russian artist and ceramist Yuriy Novikov. His masterpieces have been exhibited not only in Russia but also abroad, in such countries as the USA, Finland, Greece, etc. You will see impressive pieces of art made out of ceramics, loam and wood. One of them is a unique six- meter long tile stove which he was included into the Guinesse Book of Records for. It took the artist over 8 years to finish this unique project. You will be revealed the secrets of ceramic art and the artist will demonstrate how ceramics is created.
Next you will be taken to the tea plantation on the by pass road. Leaving the city behind, your coach will first travel alongside Sochi's beautiful coastline before turning inland. Trading stunning views of the sea for scenic rolling green coastal plains and sub-tropical forests, you'll make your way to the slopes of Mount Armyanka. One of Sochi's renowned tea plantations is one more your destination today. You will proceed to the tea chalet for a treat of some delicious Russian tea. As you relax and enjoy your tea and homemade sweet Russian pies. Time for some souvenir shopping will be provided before returning to the ship.
