The path begins at the place where a wide forest clearing comes closest to the road. Giant trees are rising on both sides of the path: beech, sycamore and linden. On the left, the river Agura runs through the deep gorge. After 35-40 minute walk you arrive to the first waterfall where the gorge becomes so narrow that the two giant rocks look as if they were split by the stream. Following your walk through the forest, you will next proceed to a restaurant for refreshment and comfort stop.

A scenic drive along the upper seafront that includes such landmarks as the Russian Orthodox Church of Michael Archangel, Art square and Winter Theatre brings you to the Yew and Box Tree Grove. A part of the Caucasian National Reserve, it is the only one of its kind in the world. It covers 750 acres and lies just 20 kilometers from the centre of Sochi. Follow the course of the river Khosta to where the valley widens. Inside the park lies a primeval forest – its ancient beauty truly enchanting. The cool air is redolent with the misty smell of fallen leaves. The crowns form a solid green mass obstructing the sunshine and light green tufts of moss hang down from gnarled branches. Evergreen box trees live 500 to 600 years whilst some of the slow growing yew trees are more than 700 years old.

Visit Art Square, one of the most beautiful squares of the city decorated with mini sculptures made by a famous local artist. The Art Museum is built in 1937. First you look at its wonderful exterior, a fine example of the Italian Renaissance. Departing the seaport you will have a short drive to the Olympic University (drop-off point) , where you start the walking tour along the upper part of the seafront up to the very center of Sochi. On the way you will see a historical monument of the Cannon and the Ancho, Pushkin’s Library and the Theatre Square with the magnificent building of the Winter Theatre. Continue a brief drive through the city up into the lush green hills that overlook the pebble-strewn beaches of Sochi. Here, nestled amongst towering California pine trees, you will find the imposing two-story villa that was once Joseph Stalin's secret dacha. The subdued grey-green color of its imposing facade was intentional, serving to camouflage it from prying eyes, unfriendly visitors or possible artillery attacks from the sea. Built in 1937, this stately residence with its shaded verandahs is now open to the public. The villa remains nearly as it was in Stalin's time, with most of its original fixtures still in place. There is even a life-sized wax image of Stalin to be found here, seated at his table before a silver ink-pot that was presented to him by Mao Zedong.

The tour starts with a short drive from the port to the drop off point at the Park Hotel. Here your walk along the upper part of the seafront starts. On the way you will see the monument to the Second Russo Turkish War, the oldest Soviet hotel “Primorskaya” - the visiting card of Sochi. Upon arriving at the main square of Sochi, Theatre square, you will see an impressive building of the Winter Theatre. You rejoin the coach to proceed to Stalin’s dacha. Along the main street of the city, Resort Ave, you will see a chain of sanatoria built in Sochi in the1930’sas well as modern buildings. You are heading to the sanatorium Green Grove, the site of the former summer residence of Joseph Stalin. Situated within an old park, the dacha of the “all nations leader” was built in the 1930’s.

Depart the pier by coach for the scenic drive to the Caucasian National Reserve, which spans 750 acres, and is located approximately 12.5 miles from the center of Sochi. The road you will travel on en route to the grove runs along the bank of the Khosta River, and the valley deepens further upstream. Upon arrival at the Caucasian National Reserve, a visit will be made to the ancient primeval forest, where the cool air is redolent with the misty smell of fallen leaves.
